Landscapers in Florida who perform construction-related work may be regulated by the state's Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB). You can verify whether a landscaper holds a state license by searching the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) license database at myfloridalicense.com. The search tool lets you look up contractors by name, license number, city, or license type.

Florida distinguishes between certified contractors, who hold a statewide certificate and can work anywhere in the state, and registered contractors, who are registered for specific jurisdictions. When calling S & R Landscaping or any other contractor, ask whether they hold a state license and what type—certified or registered—so you can verify their standing with the DBPR database.

Before hiring, confirm whether your project requires permits or follows local building codes. The Florida Building Code governs construction standards statewide. For landscape work involving structures, irrigation systems, or significant site changes, a permit may be required; your local government or contractor can clarify what applies to your job.
