Before hiring a painter, you should verify that the contractor holds the proper license for the work being performed. You can search for an active license on the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) website.

Permit requirements vary by project scope and location within Fort Myers. Some painting jobs may require permits depending on local code requirements, while others may not. It is important to confirm with your painter whether permits are needed for your specific project. Your painter should be familiar with local permit processes and building code compliance.

When evaluating a painter, ask about their licensing status, experience with similar projects, and how they handle surface preparation and protection of your home. Understanding what the painter will do to prepare surfaces and protect your furnishings and floors helps set expectations for the quality of the finished work.
