Before hiring a general contractor in Florida, verify the contractor's license. The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) Construction Industry Licensing Board regulates all contractors in the state. You can look up any contractor's license status online at myfloridalicense.com using the license search tool, which allows searches by name, license number, city, or county.

Florida recognizes two main contractor license types: Certified and Registered. A Certified contractor holds a certificate of competency issued by the state and may contract anywhere in Florida. A Registered contractor has registered with the department to meet competency requirements for a specific jurisdiction and may only work in that jurisdiction. Both types are subject to the state's construction industry rules and regulations.

When you contact Premier Painting & Renovations at (561) 559-5959, ask whether they hold a Certified or Registered general contractor license and confirm their license number so you can verify it on the DBPR website. This ensures they meet the qualifications for the scope of work you're planning.
