Savannah Electrical Training Alliance

Savannah Electrical Training Alliance operates an apprenticeship program for electricians. The four-year program combines classroom instruction with paid on-the-job training. Apprentices are placed with union signatory contractors to learn commercial, industrial, and residential electrical work. Course topics include electrical power and lighting systems, power distribution systems, backup power generation, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

The organization maintains a main training center in Savannah and a second location in Brunswick. Staff include training directors, instructors covering all four years of study, and hands-on educators. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

Georgia's residential and commercial general contractors must hold a state license. The State Licensing Board for Residential and Commercial General Contractors oversees two paths: Residential Basic or Residential Light Commercial for residential work, and separate Commercial General Contractor license types. Before hiring, verify that your contractor holds an active, current license.

To check a contractor's license status, use the Georgia Secretary of State's online verification tool (GOALS portal) at https://verify.sos.ga.gov/verification/. Search by business name or license number. All licenses expire June 30 each year; if renewal is pending, the contractor may be in the late renewal window (July 1 to August 15). Ask your contractor for their license type and number upfront.
