Georgia's State Board of Electrical Contractors licenses electrical contractors under two license types: Restricted and Non-Restricted. Before hiring, verify that your electrician holds a valid license through the Georgia Secretary of State's online verification system (GOALS portal). You can look up a license by the contractor's name or license number at https://verify.sos.ga.gov/verification/.

All licensed electrical contractors must maintain continuing education credits for license renewal. Licenses expire June 30 each year, with a late renewal period from July 1 to August 15. If you have concerns about a contractor's conduct or credentials, you can file a complaint with the State Board's Licensing Division.

When contacting an electrician like DP Joyner Industrial, ask whether they hold a current Georgia electrical contractor license and confirm the license type matches your project scope. Request proof of insurance and a clear estimate before work begins.
