Florida requires electrical contractors to be licensed through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). The two main license types are Electrical Contractor (EC) and Registered Electrical Contractor (ER). An EC license allows work statewide, while an ER registration is limited to specific cities or counties where the contractor has registered. Before hiring, you can verify a contractor's license on the DBPR website at myfloridalicense.com using a name or license number search.

Most electrical work in Florida requires a permit and inspection to ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code. Permits are typically obtained by the contractor before work begins. Ask your electrician whether permits and inspections are included for your project—this protects you and ensures the work meets code standards.

When calling Lighthouse Energy or any electrician, confirm they hold the appropriate state license for the scope of work you need. Request the license number and ask whether they handle permits and inspections as part of their service.
