Above The Rest Painters

Above The Rest Painters serves Tampa Bay with residential and commercial painting. The business holds a 5.0 rating from 321 reviews on Google.

On the residential side, the company handles interior and exterior painting. For all work, the team preps surfaces by pressure washing to remove mold, mildew, dust, dirt, and old or oxidized paint, then scrapes, sands, and repairs rotten wood and cracks as needed. Primer or sealer is applied before the final coat. The crew helps clients select paint products suited to the Tampa Bay climate and can handle popcorn removal, pool deck finishing, and weatherproofing.

Commercial painting services are also available. Additional work includes crack repair and paver sealing.

The business is open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM. Call (813) 810-9703 to discuss your project.

In Florida, painting contractors must be licensed through the Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB) under the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Before hiring, verify your contractor's license using the state's online search tool. You can search by the contractor's name, license number, or city at https://www.myfloridalicense.com/wl11.asp. This search will show you whether the license is active and in good standing.

Contractors in Florida are either certified or registered. A certified contractor holds a statewide certificate and may work anywhere in Florida. A registered contractor has registered with the state to meet local requirements and may contract only in those specific jurisdictions. Understanding which type of license your painter holds helps ensure they are qualified to work in your area.

When you call a painter, ask to verify their license status and confirm they carry workers' compensation insurance. You can also check the Construction Policy Tracking Database through the Florida Department of Financial Services to confirm coverage. Discuss prep work in detail—surface cleaning, sanding, crack repair, and primer application are essential steps that affect the quality of the final paint job.
