Hiring a Plumber in Tallahassee, Florida
Plumbing work in Tallahassee typically requires a permit from your local building department before work begins. Permits ensure the job meets Florida Building Code standards and protects your property. When you contact a plumber, ask whether they will pull the permit or if you need to do so—this is an important responsibility to clarify upfront.
Florida licenses plumbers through the Construction Industry Licensing Board under the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Before hiring, verify that your plumber holds an active state license. You can search by name or license number on the DBPR online services portal at myfloridalicense.com to confirm their license status.
Ask your plumber about their experience with your specific issue and whether they are familiar with local building code requirements. Request references and confirm they understand permit and inspection timelines, which can affect your project schedule.
