In Florida, HVAC contractors must be licensed by the Construction Industry Licensing Board under the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR). Before hiring, verify that your contractor holds a current, active license in the state. You can search the DBPR license database by the contractor's name, license number, or city to confirm their standing.

Most HVAC work in Miami requires a permit from Miami-Dade County Building Department. Check with your county or city before starting work to understand which projects need permits and what inspections apply. This protects both you and the contractor and ensures the work meets Florida Building Code standards.

When you call an HVAC contractor, ask whether they hold a current Florida construction license, what specific services are covered under your proposal, and whether they will handle all required permits and inspections. Request a written estimate and confirm their availability for any emergency service you may need.
