Hiring an HVAC Contractor in Boca Raton, Florida
Florida's Construction Industry Licensing Board regulates HVAC contractors through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Before hiring, verify that your contractor holds the appropriate state license. You can search the DBPR online services portal by contractor name, license number, or city to confirm active licensure and check for any disciplinary history.
When you call T&C Cleaners at (561) 462-3829, ask whether they hold a state license and request the license number. Florida issues two main contractor license types: certified contractors (designated with an occupation code beginning with C) can work statewide, while registered contractors (code beginning with R) may only work in jurisdictions where they are registered. A licensed contractor should be able to answer questions about permits and building-code compliance for your project.
Before signing a contract, confirm that the contractor understands local building-code requirements and whether your project requires a permit. The Florida Building Code sets standards for all construction work in the state, including HVAC installation and repair. A qualified contractor will know what permits and inspections apply to your job.
How do I verify an HVAC contractor's Florida license?
Use the DBPR online license search portal at myfloridalicense.com. Search by the contractor's name, license number, or city. The search will show whether the license is active and allow you to review any disciplinary records. [1, 2]
What is the difference between a certified and a registered HVAC contractor in Florida?
A certified contractor (license code beginning with C) can work anywhere in Florida. A registered contractor (code beginning with R) must meet the competency requirements of each jurisdiction and may only work in the jurisdictions where they are registered. [1]
Will my HVAC project require a permit in Boca Raton?
Most HVAC work requires a permit under the Florida Building Code. When you contact T&C Cleaners, ask them whether your specific project requires a permit and whether they will handle permit applications. [3, 4]
What should I ask an HVAC contractor about building-code compliance?
Ask the contractor whether they are familiar with the current Florida Building Code and local Boca Raton requirements for your type of work. A licensed contractor should be able to explain what codes apply and what inspections will be required. [3, 4]
